INTRODUCTION

Filmer Mews is a development consisting of 7 two-storey mews terraces and 2 single-storey triangular buildings on the other side of the private courtyard. Some ten years ago, planning permission was obtained for change of use from commercial to residential, but the development did not comply with the new building regulations .

THE TASK

Our brief was to develop initial design, apply for planning permission and produce the documentation required for the new building regulations. The construction phase involved demolishing all of the interior elements, building new walls, introducing new plumbing and electricity elements, and finally fitting all of the units with high quality kitchens and bathrooms.

DESIGN

Working closely with Magenta Planning, Faris K associates and Lim Engineering, we have managed to produce a unique scheme in the record amount of time. The initial design was developed to create a selection of very stylish 2, 3 and 4-bedroom houses. The original brief was extended to accommodate an underfloor heating system with a polished concrete floor throughout.

CONSTRUCTION

Despite on-site problems typical of a refurbishment job, we managed to keep the construction process on time and on budget. The problems were dealt with promptly and all changes were agreed in advance with the developer.

LIVING ROOM

The open plan area comprises of seating space, a dining room, a kitchen, a bespoke designed feature wall . The polished concrete floor works well with the other elements to create an industrial feel throughout the development.

KITCHEN

All kitchens are a bespoke design, produced by German manufactures BEECK-Küchen, supplied and fitted by Chalk Kitchens. Appliances are Neff, featuring a made-to-measure quartz worktop with a Carrara Jet finish.

BEDROOM

All bedrooms are en-suite, with either a bath or shower room. High quality Italian design built-in floor-to-ceiling cupboards were supplied and fitted by FCI.

STAIRCASE

The bespoke solid oak staircase designed by Faris K was manufactured in factory to the highest standard and was fully fitted. A very elegant stainless-steel wire system has been developed and fitted in order to emphasise a feeling of space. Both the staircase and railing are in full compliance with building regulations.
